Announcement re postponement of the Ashton Keynes Festival 2020 because of Covid 19 situation
We are sure it will come as no surprise in these extraordinary times that we have sadly had to take the decision to postpone this year’s Ashton Keynes Festival in June. Given current predictions it is looking unlikely that we will be able to reschedule this year, but we will consider all options, and plan to return in the last week of June 2021.
As you can imagine, we haven’t done this lightly, but in view of the recent developments concerning the Covid 19 crisis, like so many other events around the world, we have had to face the reality that we simply can’t get together in person right now.
However, we will continue investigating how we might be able to run some events in our village to celebrate life in our community in some form or other during the planned weekend. As we write, the likes of The Magnificent AKs, Siren Sisters and other village musicians are experimenting with online performances of various kinds, we may still be able to do something with the Living Chronicle and possibly some “Virtual Village Visits” so we will see if we might be able to assemble something in June after all to keep everyone’s spirits up…
In the meantime, our thoughts go out to the many people impacted by this crisis and we urge everyone to follow the sensible advice to keep yourselves as well as possible in the current situation and work together as a community to help improve life as soon as we all can.
We hope the Festival will be all the bigger and better for the wait next year.
Stay safe and here’s hoping this extraordinary time will be something we can look back on in the months and years to come and remember how we got through this period with an even stronger sense of community.
Best wishes to all and looking forward to seeing you in better times to come.
