creative writing

Venue: The White Hart

Date: Thursday 29th June 2017

Time: 7.30pm

Tickets: FREE event but reservation requested (see below)

Come and meet fellow local creative writers at this not-to-be-missed Literary Evening.  There is already a nascent group who have been meeting for several months now to explore the art of creative writing for their own pleasure.

We are also very pleased and honoured to welcome award-winning Wiltshire author Vanessa Lafaye to talk to us about her work and share some tips with us all.

Her debut novel, 'Summertime', was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick in 2015 and short-listed for the Historical Writers Association Goldsboro Debut Crown.

Her short story, ‘Fire on the Water’, won the Historical Novel Society top prize for 2016.  Her second book, 'At First Light', is a companion to ‘Summertime, and will be published in June.

She will read from the book and explain how she dramatises real historical events (‘Summertime’ first chapter free here).

She will also talk about how she got her break in publishing, with advice for aspiring authors.

Read her first novel, ‘Summertime’, before the event and have the chance to ask her your own questions!

Some of the best entries in Ashton Keynes’ Landmarks writing competition will also be read during the evening.

This is a FREE event but we ask you to register if you plan to attend so we can have a better idea of how many seats we need.
